The September outing was held at Mar Hall on Friday 6th September 2019.
The Earl of Mar Championship Course and the A listed Mar Hall provided the stunning backdrop for the golf clubs prestigious outing of the year, where members were playing for the Centenary Trophy.
This was the first time that the golf club had visited Mar Hall and the challenging course combined with at times wet and blustery conditions provided a tough test of golf for all.
Playing a stroke play format Stevie Lugton mastered the course and conditions best of all and was the winner of the Centenary Trophy with an 87 less 12 for a net 75. The runner up was Jim Gordon with an 84 less 8 for a net 76.
Jim Gordon’s 84 also turned out to be the best scratch score on the day.
The tri-am competition was won by Alan Gray, Thomas Grant and Brian Gillespie with a net 68.
The ball nearest the holes winners were: – :
2nd – Alan Gray
10th – Jeffrey Bowles
17th – Duncan Rae
By way of an indication of the the tough scoring conditions, or an idication of the standard of golf on the day, no one hit the greem on the par 3 5th, no two’s were recorded on the day and no one hit the green in 2 on the 18th…. much to the delight of our treasurer who saved a fortune on golf balls as prizes!
Our next and final outing of the year will be held at Dunbar Golf Club on Friday 11th October and is a one round pm competition.
